First held in 1907, the Scottish Open is the third oldest badminton tournament in the world and since its inception it has grown over the years, welcoming a better quality of players and becoming a better spectating experience.
The move to the Emirates Arena in 2012 and the upgrading of the event to BWF Tour 100 status has seen the pace of change accelerate further. This upgrade in competition means that World and Olympic champions have competed in Glasgow over the last few years.
