World Seniors is progressing well

The BWF World Senior Championships are well underway with several Scottish representatives still involved, late into the tournament today.

The quarterfinals for the tournament will commence today, in Katowice, Poland, before the semi-finals are played on Saturday, and the finals on Sunday.

Who is still competing for a medal?

Dan Travers, who is the top seed for (MS 60), is playing against Loke Poh Wong, from Australia. Travers is one of Scotland’s chances of a medal or even a title at the Senior World Championships, but he is not the only player looking to impress.

Also playing in the quarterfinals today is Christine Black. The (women’s singles 60) player has got Japanese opposition today as she prepares to face Sugako Morita.

Other players still involved include Lynne Campbell who is playing in the women’s doubles (45) category, as well as Mark Mackay playing in the men’s doubles category (40).

Later on in the day, Scotland has two mixed doubles pairs playing, one Dan Travers who is also the top seed in men’s singles, with Christine Black, as well as Alan McMillan/Aileen Travers. Both pairs have English opposition.

Mark Mackay is also in action later today in mixed doubles (40), Dan Travers men’s doubles (60), Aileen Travers in women’s singles (50), and finally Jill Smith who is last on court, playing in women’s singles (55).
