Grimleys out of World Junior Championships

Christopher and Matthew Grimley narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the boys’ doubles at the World Junior Championships, being held in Markham, Canada this week.

The Scots recorded a superb win on Wednesday by beating the No. 1 Japanese pair of Hiroki Midorikawa and Hiroki Nakayama but a last-16 match against 11th seeds Thanawin Madee and Wachirawit Sothon proved to be a step too far.

The Thai pair bounced back from losing the opening game to win 12-21 21-18 21-14 to end Scotland’s interest in Canada.

The squad will now return to Scotland to compete in the Scottish Open Badminton Championships at the Emirates Arena from 21-25 November.
