Explanation of Senior Ranking Lists

For season 2010-2011 the following tournaments will be used for ranking purposes :

West of Scotland Championships 23-24 October 2010
Scottish International Championships 24-28 November 2010

For events in the Scottish International Championships where a qualifying event is held, a player who loses in the final qualifying match, will be awarded half the number of points of a 1st round loser, a player who loses in the penultimate qualifying round will be awarded a quarter of the points of a first round loser, etc.

Additionally, for Grade 2 or 3 events where the draw exceeds 32 players, the following points will be awarded:

Where the size of the draw exceeds 32 players, and a preliminary round is played (i.e. a round of 64), players losing in this round will be awarded half the number of points awarded to a 1st round loser.

Where the size of the draw exceeds 32 players and a qualifying event is played, a player who loses in the final qualifying match, will be awarded half the number of points of a 1st round loser, a player who loses in the penultimate qualifying round will be awarded a quarter of the points of a first round loser, etc.

NOTES:
Note that you have to win at least one match to get the points associated with the round that you reach, i.e. if you go straight into the quarter finals without winning a game and lose; you will only receive 1st round points. If you win one match and reach the semis, you will be allocated the points associated with reaching the semi finals.

A walkover does not count as a win but if your opponent withdraws after the match has started, that will be counted as a win. An exception to where a walkover is counted as a win is if, for example, you have won a game to get to the quarter finals and then your opponent in the quarter finals withdraws, you would then be credited with reaching the semi finals.
