Squads
  • Scottish Institute of Sport Squad

Badminton is fortunate to have a number of athletes currently in the Scottish Institute of Sport. These players have individualised training programmes and train full time at the National Badminton Academy (Scotstoun, Glasgow) under the guidance and coaching of Dan Travers (National High Performance Coach) and Trainee Coach Rita Yuan Gao.

  •  Junior High Performance Squad

BADMINTONscotland runs a Junior High Performance Squad Programme supported by sportscotland Lottery Funding. Diana Koleva, our Junior National High Performance Coach takes charge of a squad of 10 young athletes (up to 19 years of age) who are selected as they are deemed to have medal winning potential. These athletes are members of their Area Institute of Sport and have each had an individualised training and competition programme put in place for them.

Members of the Junior High Performance Squad are selected for a period of 6 months.

  • National Satellite Squad

BADMINTONscotland runs a weekly National Squad at the National Badminton Academy (Scotstoun, Glasgow) for players from Under 11 to Under 19 age groups. This is a self financing, invite only squad whose Programme Manager & Head Coach is Mrs Julie Hogg. There is also a U23 National Squad whose Head Coach is Ray Stevens.

Click here to see the 2009/2010 National Squad tournament plan:

Selection will be by Head coach Julie Hogg, based on tournament results as per National Squad criteria, Attendance at squad, commitment attitude and effort at squad.  In this way everyone knows the script.  What do you think.
