Scotland will face the Netherlands in tomorrow's Group 2 play-off at the Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships in Kuala Lumpur. And that will bring Scotland's mixed and men's doubles star Robert Blair face to face with one of his recent doubles partners, Koen Ridder, as the Scots, for the fourth time this week, take on a higher ranked team with the Dutch at No. 15 to Scotland's No. 27 in the world. Scotland have options in their line-up as they have an eight-strong squad compared to the Dutch team's three men and three women. But if Blair and Van Rietvelde are once again played in the men’s doubles they will meet Ridder and Ruud Bosch in what could be a crucial clash after the Netherlands defeated France 4-1 in their Group 2B decider today.

Scotland completed a hat-trick of victories at the Li-Ning Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships today with a 3-2 win over Sweden to leave them top of Group 2A. The Scots, who had already toppled group seeds and European bronze medallists Russia 4-1 in their first match on Sunday and USA by the same scoreline yesterday, were once again given the perfect start by their two world silver medallists Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier. Blair and Bankier made it three mixed doubles wins out of three when they outplayed world No 40 pair Nico Ruponen and Amanda Hogstrom 21-16 21-16. World No. 38 Kirsty Gilmour also made it three singles wins out of three when she proved too strong for Elinor Widh 21-16 21-9 to put Scotland back in front after Kieran Merrilees lost for the first time in the championships, going down 21-10 21-16 to Gabriel Ulldahl.
