Taipei TeamThis year’s International Schools Sports Federation World Games badminton event will be hosted by Chinese Taipei, commencing 6 May, 2014.

Eight pupils including four girls from Auchinleck Academy - Tammi Gibson, Cara McCulloch, Bethany Cook and Rachel Scott - and four boys from Mackie Academy - Jacob Reynolds, Mark Leith, Matthew Duguid and Sam Muir - will represent Scottish schools and will begin their adventure this weekend.

This is a great opportunity for the young athletes to play competitive badminton in Taiwan and it will definitely be a once in a lifetime experience. As part of the event they will not only play badminton, but also experience some of the culture of Taiwan as well as the other participating countries. Teams from Chinese Taipei, China, Turkey, Bulgaria, England, Brazil, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, Croatia, Belgium, Germany, Estonia and Italy will join Scotland in the tournament.

The pupils have all worked very hard to fundraise for this trip and are thankful to the many friends and family members who have supported them at various events and the corporate sponsorship and grants they have received from local companies. Details of the event can be found at www.isfsports.org.
