Robert Blair 3Scotland's challenge at the Swiss Open came to an end today when Robert Blair and Paul Van Rietvelde both lost in the men's doubles first round in Basel.

Blair and Malaysian partner Tan Bin Shen had come through yesterday's qualifying to face Malaysian pair Hoon Thien How and Tan Wee Kiong. But their challenge ended 21-19 21-17 against the third seeds despite holding a 19-18 lead in the opening game.

Van Rietvelde and England's Marcus Ellis also went out in straight games, beaten 21-12 21-15 by second seeds Kim Ki Jung and Kim Sa Rang of Korea.

The next event on the calendar is the Polish Open from March 21-24, followed by the French International in Orleans a week later.
