BADMINTONscotland has a number of resources and coaching modules to support the delivery of badminton in Secondary Schools. This support includes various resource materials and DVD’s as well as S1-S4, Higher Skills and Techniques/Structures and Strategies coaching sessions. We also offer support to schools running Sports Leaders UK courses through our 6-hour Badminton Basics Leadership Course.
S1-S4 Coaching Sessions
This 2-hour coaching module covers content from the S1-S4 Coaching Manual and can be delivered in schools. Pupils in the S1-S4 age range will be taken through practices to develop grips, movements, feeding skills and hitting techniques while working in pairs and small groups. To organise an S1-S4 coaching session in your school please contact John Shearer using the details provided below.
Intermediate/Higher PE Coaching Sessions 2013
BADMINTONscotland successfully delivered 2 coaching weeks in September and October 2013 to support secondary PE pupils in the senior phase of Curriculum for Excellence. More than 500 pupils attended the sessions held at the newly refurbished Cockburn Centre
All sessions were practical and gave pupils the opportunity to improve their own performance as well as being able to consider the following:
• How to plan a series of progressive sessions to develop a stroke
• Observing, analysing and providing feedback to other pupils
• Observing and comparing pupil performance with that of a high level model performer
Where tutors are available we are also able to offer in-school deliveries. For more information on this and for costings please contact Dawn Middleton
