A new initiative linking into the Active Schools Programme, which will feature partnerships between BADMINTONscotland and Active Schools with a view to meeting schools needs primarily through a programme of structured coaching.

It would be anticipated that certain criteria be met before schools can apply to join the programme, including:

•  Primary Schools participating in TOPS Badminton

•  Schools be affiliated to BADMINTONscotland or in the process of applying to affiliate

•  All Schools be linked to the sportscotland Active Schools Programme

When Schools meet the above criteria they can apply to BADMINTONscotland for a minimum of 3 hrs / maximum of 6 hours free coaching time from an NGB qualified coach, the main condition being that the School must match the numbers of coaching hours applied for.

This could result in, for example, BADMINTONscotland funding a coach for 3 hours over 3 weeks and the School would cover the coach fee for the next 3 weeks

Qualifying criteria:

A Primary School will be:

A    A TOP Sport School with a written ASC proposal

And / or

B    An affiliated School with written ASC proposal

or

C    A non affiliated School, provided an affiliation supplement is met, with written ASC proposal

A Secondary School will be:

A    Affiliated School to Scottish Schools Group, with a written ASC proposal

B    A non affiliated School, provided an affiliation supplement is met, with a written ASC proposal

NB Priority will be given to Affiliated Schools and those schools who have access to TOP sport Badminton
