| Bankier and Adcock edged out at semi final stage |
|
The Chinese pair, who are also the reigning Yonex All England Champions, started the match strongly and led for almost the entirety of the first game, taking it 21-17 on their first game point. Bankier and Adcock hit back in the second, taking control of the game early and going on to win it 21-18, but they couldn’t repeat that feat in the decider, eventually losing out 21-17 18-21 24-22. Despite the defeat Bankier, the 2007 Bank of Scotland International Champion, is regaining top form after an injury layoff that at one stage kept her out of the sport for almost nine months. Two weeks ago at the Yonex BWF World Championships, Bankier and women’s doubles partner Emma Mason beat the number 13 seeds Savitree Amitapai and Vacharaporn Munkit and her performance last week is further good news for Scotland. She will now focus on her preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October and the Bank of Scotland International Championships in Glasgow in November.
