Big Scottish challenge at Langenfeld Cup

Josh NeilBADMINTONscotland have named an 23-strong junior squad to contest the Langenfeld Cup in Germany this weekend.

Prestwick’s Josh Neil, Under 15 runner-up last year, will be looking to go one better this time as he tackles the Under 17 age group where Kirsty Gilmour did so well last year.

Neil, the reigning Bank of Scotland National Under 15 champion, leads a four-man challenge in the singles and partners Welsh girl Jordon Hart in the mixed doubles.

Bothwell’s Gilmour, who has also just been named as part of an 8-strong Scottish squad who will travel to Delhi in October for the Commonwealth Games, won the Under 17 singles last year. This year she moves up an age group to tackle the Under 19 singles and teams up with Caitlin Pringle in the doubles.

In the Under 15 age group Adam Hall (Mauchline) is chasing a treble in singles, doubles (with England’s Angus Nils Pedersen), and the mixed with Hannah Morrison of Motherwell.

Hannah and twin sister Sophie are contesting singles and doubles and Sophie plays mixed with Pedersen.

A full list of Scottish entries can be seen below.
