| Tough draw for Scotland's five World hopefuls |
|
Bank of Scotland International champion Susan Egelstaff, the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, was matched against Korean 14th seed Bae Sung Hee in the women's singles first round after the draw in Kuala Lumpur. Scotland have two contenders in the men's singles. Alistair Casey will face Canada's David Snider in the first round where a win will land him a likely clash with Chinese 10th seed Bao Chunlei. Fellow Glaswegian Kieran Merrilees will take on Lithuania's Kestutis Navickas in the first round, and a win will pit him against China's fourth seed Chen Jin. Scotland have Imogen Bankier and Emma Mason contesting the women's doubles where they face an equally tough time against Thailand's 13th seeds Savitree Amitapai and Vacharaporn Munkit. The Championships, which are being held in Paris for the first time, begin on August 23 with the finals on August 29. |
