2011 is a particularly special year for BADMINTONscotland as it marks the Centenary of the formation of the Scottish Badminton Union. | Disability Coaching Workshop |

On 18th and 19th September BADMINTONscotland in partnership with Glasgow Sport, Scottish Disability Sport and the 4 Nations Disability Badminton Group will host a workshop for coaches which will focus on “Technically coaching badminton to players with physical impairments” The course will be held at Glasgow School of Sport. The course is aimed at experienced Level 1 coaches and Level 2 coaches who would like to gain some knowledge and practical experience of working with badminton players with physical impairments. Over the 2 day course coaches will have an opportunity to develop their knowledge of disability badminton, classification, technical coaching of serves, overhead and underarm strokes and movements for both wheelchair and standing classes. Coaches will also be able to practically deliver to players on the afternoon of the second day of the course. The course will be delivered by Lyndon Williams, who is one of Europe’s most experienced coaches in working with players with physical disabilities. The course will be co-tutored by BADMINTONscotland staff with specialist input from some of Scotland’s top disabled athletes.
