SUSAN EGELSTAFF'S World Championship warm-up ended in frustrating first-round defeat at the Chinese Taipei Open today when the eighth seed from Glasgow fell 22-20 23-21 against Taipei's Cheng Shao Chieh. 

Egelstaff will be disappointed after three game points slipped away from her in the first game, having led 20-17.

It was a similar story in the second game when she had three game points to level the match before going out, having led 20-18 and 21-20.

Egelstaff, the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist four years ago and the reigning Bank of Scotland International Champion, will now focus on preparing for the forthcoming Yonex BWF World Championships in Paris, starting on August 23.
