Egelstaff ready for Taipei test |
|
Glasgow’s Susan Egelstaff tackles her last event before the Yonex BWF World Championships in Paris later this month when she goes into action on Wednesday at the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix.
The Bank of Scotland International champion and 2006 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist is the eighth seed this week.
She faces Taipei’s Cheng Shao Chieh in the first round with the prospect of facing the winner of the qualifiers, Lee Yun Hwa of Korea or Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong, in the second round.
Egelstaff, who is ranked No. 28 in the world, had expected to face former European champion and world No 11 Yao Jie if she lives up to her seeding and reaches the quarter finals. But the Dutch No. 1 and top seed has pulled out of the tournament and her place in the draw has gone to another qualifier, Singapore's Gu Juan. The second seed has also pulled out.
