Badminton Scotland Centenary Year

2011 is a particularly special year for BADMINTONscotland as it marks the Centenary of the formation of the Scottish Badminton Union. In celebration of our 100th birthday we have held a number of events and produced a Centenary Brochure and other items to commemorate this very special occasion. BADMINTONscotland mourn David McIntyre

David McIntyreBADMINTONscotland today paid tribute to their former secretary David McIntyre, who died peacefully on Friday.

David, a keen badminton and tennis player, was secretary with the Scottish Badminton Union from 1985 to the early 90’s, having been elected to the Union's council in 1970.

He also served on the Finance Committee and the General Purposes Sub-Committee and was treasurer of the Cockburn Centre for a number of years.

Born in Glasgow, he was educated at Kings Park School and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant.

He was called up for National Service in 1956 and joined the RAF, spending 19 months in Canada training as a pilot.

He leaves two children, Elaine and Stuart.

David's funeral will be at Linn Crematorium, Lainshaw Drive, Glasgow, on Friday 10 July at 11.15am.
