Coach Membership

The Badminton Scotland Coach Membership is a database of active Badminton Coaches working in Scotland which offers individuals a variety of benefits.

Our membership system has now gone online and offers coaches the chance to link their coaching with the clubs they coach and play at as well.

To join or renew your Coach Membership for the new season, 1st August 2019-31st July 2020, please visit our Go Membership site and read the following user guide for instructions.

Assistant Coach Membership is £20

Standalone Coach Membership is £32

Below are a list of the benefits offered to our Coach Members for the 19/20 Season:

Public Liability Insurance cover to a maximum of £10 Million is provided within the restrictions of your qualification.

Accidents do happen and this cover gives you financial security in case of a mishap that may lead to litigation. Most external organisations, eg local authorities, sports centres, now require sports coaches to have their own Public Liability insurance at the £10 million level. Individual Public Liability insurance it would cost at least £50.

Coaches are offered discounted Badminton Scotland Coach Education and CPD rates throughout the year, supporting coaches to continually develop their skills and knowledge. In addition coaches will be nominated for Sportscotland Coach Connect programme; free CPD covering a broad range of coaching topics. Please visit the Coach Education and CPD section of our website for more information.

Yonex Discount Package

Coaches are offered 30% discount on Yonex products purchased through Gannon Sports. Coaches are also able to develop their coaching business by selling Yonex products directly to their clients. Please contact Brian Gannon for more details

The coach licence card is an important form of photographic identification, useful when applying for coaching roles in schools, Local Authority Centres and clubs. It enables coaches to prove they have completed the relevant qualifications and that they have taken out the appropriate Public Liability Insurance.

  • Tickets for the Scottish Open Grand Prix

Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check

All coaches working with children and protected adults are responsible for being knowledgeable and compliant with the current Protecting Vulnerable Groups Act. If coaches are undertaking regulated work with protected groups they should have the correct PVG check in place.

Coaches can be PVG checked as self employed or in association with a club, institution or local authority. Coaches need an update to be undertaken with EVERY organisation they undertake regulated work with. This is so that if an individual became barred from working with a protected group every organisation they work with can be informed.

Badminton Scotland can act as an Intermediary Body between Badminton Clubs and Disclosure Scotland, if the club is affiliated and contracted with us. This means any coaches that work with a club can ask Badminton Scotland to process their PVG check. Please get in touch with for more information.

Disclosure Scotland has information on the PVG process on their website:
